Tell us about a habit or habits you would like to break. Is there any way it can play a positive role in your life?
There are several habits that need breaking; however, the one habit that I would like to break is procrastination. I will start on something (like my writing) or going to do something(like going to the store, cooking my meals or getting gas) with good intentions. Instead of following thru I will sit there, vegging out and watching TV, usually something mindless .
And before long I've lost that time and find myself rushing, taking shortcuts to finishing the task, with the end result turning out all wrong.
How wrong? Wrong enough to have been late in getting somewhere (like work or church; even to the doctor's office.
I will start off once again being good, taking care of what I need to take care of; then little distractions get in the way, and before long, it has started up again (me procrastinating) and I find myself rushing to meet the end result in a short amount of time.
I have done making lists, setting the clock to get up earlier (only to shut it off and oversleep by as much as 90 minutes). Get a buddy? No comment please!!!
Has procrastination played a positive role in my life? That depends on how you looked at it. If you looked at being late the subject of your pastor's sermon, having to have your doctor's appointments rescheduled, having to go out and buy lunch that you did not plan on buying, along with the embarrassment, then that would be considered a negative.
But on the other side of that coin, if you are sick and tired of being embarrassed and decided that enough is enough, then it can only be taken as a positive. One step at a time, piece by piece.
