What kind of sleeper are you? Do you drop off like a stone and awaken refreshed, or do you need pitch black and silence to drift off to dream?
Once upon a time as a young adult in the work force, I used to be one of those individuals who could sleep soundly throughout the night even with the TV and lights on; not waking up except for a bathroom break, and resumed my sound sleep until it was time to get up…which is usually around 6 or 7 am, depending on what was on the agenda for that day. I always have had to use an alarm, as I was not one of those individuals who would wake up
” refreshed” and ready to go with a big smile on my face… (think that commercial for the sleeping pill Lunestra) I hear there are actually individuals who actually wake up that way…I would love to meet them….
I was able to fall asleep soundly and was even able to sleep through a thunderstorm…unfortunately, those days are gone. I sleep, but it has not been a restful type sleep. It takes about 2 1/2 hours before I actually get to sleep and if I am lucky, may make it through 5 hours of sleep. Summertime is the worse, for I am constantly dealing with those damn night sweats and can lie in bed for an entire night with my eyes wide open…
I only have the room have pitch black when I am dealing with migraines; other than that I sleep with the TV on(I was afraid of the dark as a little girl, so I always had a night light of sorts), usually on a channel that shows black and white programming late nights, like MeTV or TCM.
I have recently changed up my routine for the past few weeks. I have set a bedtime for myself at around 1130 or 12 midnight…I have been noticing I get sleepy around that time… so far I have been averaging between 6.5 and 7 hours of sleep.
No I still don’t wake up refreshed and ready to start the day…I don’t really know if I ever will …time will tell…hopefully soon♧
